Remember when Obamacare was being debated in Congress?
One of the arguments against it was that there would be a doctor shortage because of pay cuts that were part of the plan.
The Democratic Socialists in Congress at the time pooh-poohed it, and so did Obama.
Well guess what?
Not only are those shortages happening, but more doctors than ever are burning out after just nine years of Obamacare, according to a new study.
New research continues to demonstrate the demise of doctors, with burnout levels jumping dramatically over just a three-year span.
According to researchers at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine, physician burnout increased from 45.5% to 54.4% between 2011 and 2014. The researchers say doctors aren’t more depressed or exhausted by their home life, but rather at their jobs.
The researchers compared data from between 2011 and 2014 on physician burnout and their satisfaction with their work-life balance. They found that physician burnout indicators are the highest in the fields of emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics. Alexander and Ballou also hypothesized that five transformational medical practice events which occurred between 2011 and 2014 contributed to the spike in physician burnout.
“These are hospital purchases of medical groups, rising drug prices, the Affordable Care Act, ‘pay for performance’ in which providers are offered financial incentives to improve quality and efficiency, and mandated electronic health records,” explains Alexander. “Doctors now spend more time with electronic health records than they do with patients. Electronic health records were pushed by the government at great expense and without regard to the effects upon patient or physician health. Go into any hospital and look for the nurses and the doctors. You will find them sitting in front of computers. They are not happy, and their patients are not healthier.”
Both the ACA, or Obamacare, and electronic health records were forced on doctors and the public by the Obama administration.
The more the government meddles in something–anything–the worse it gets.
Is health care now better than it was in 2010 when Obamacare was passed?
This took 20 years off my age…
Think of all the things you could do with those extra years…
Write that book you’ve always talked about…go to France and speak French…play pretty good golf…help those kids in Africa…meet a cute new girlfriend…
…the possibilities are endless when you’re happy and healthy… You’re not in a rush anymore…you have decades and decades to do whatever you want.
Wow. Just wow.
Not by a long shot.
And now, it’s going to be harder to get any kind of care because doctors are jumping ship.
Make no mistake, Liberty Lovers, the decline of the medical industry is intentional by the Lying Left, no matter how much they claim they are trying to improve it.
If healthcare turns into a disaster, then they will be fully justified in a full government takeover with a single payer delivery system.
Despite all indications that other developed nations with single payer healthcare are struggling, the American Left still thinks it’s the answer to all our problems.
Forbes warns that disaster awaits if we allow ourselves to fall into the single payer trap.
[People who support single payer healthcare] should be careful what they wish for. Single-payer systems have failed everywhere they’ve been implemented, from the United Kingdom to Canada. Americans who fall for single-payer’s promise of “universal health coverage” at lower cost will instead find themselves facing long waits for subpar care.
